Graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague. His professional career started at a power plant building subsidiary of Škoda Praha in 1986. He worked at ČEZ in 1993–1999, then joined ČEPS, a.s., where he held several managerial posts until 2012. He was in charge of the Energy Section of the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a deputy minister from 2012 to 2015. He was a member of the Board of Directors of ČEZ Distribuce in 2016–2020, also serving as Head of Distribution Asset Management.
